On May 20, 1875, in Paris, France, 17 countries signed the Meter Convention, an intergovernmental agreement to adopt the International System of Units and guarantee consistent measurements worldwide. For more than 100 years, the International Meter Convention Organization has played a huge role in ensuring the unification of international measurement standards, promoting international trade and accelerating the development of science and technology. In 1999, the 21st International Conference on Weights and Measures designated May 20th as “World Metrology Day”.
May 20, 2023, is the 24th “World Metrology Day”. The International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) released the global theme of “World Metrology Day” in 2023 – “Measurements supporting the global food system”. The State Administration for Market Regulation officially determined the global Chinese theme of “World Metrology Day” as “Measurement Supports the Global Food System”.
Today is the 24th *World Metrology Day*, and the Market Supervision and Administration Bureau held the 5.20 World Metrology Day event at the main gate square of Qifeng Park, Dongcheng City, Dongguan City.
